EV Charger Station Installs now Available

Did you know that Local Electrical Services, Inc. has added residential EV charger station installations and commercial EV charger station installations to its electrical services?

Why, you say? Because we at Local Electrical Services, Inc. stay on top of industry trends.

One of the trends we’ve been keeping an eye on is the sales of electrical vehicles. You’ve probably even noticed yourself that more and more of your friends, business colleagues, and family members are purchasing electric vehicles; both all-electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles. (We could get into the BEV, the PEV, and the PHEV, but let’s stick with a general use of ‘EV’ for now, and save those subcategories for another day đŸ™‚ ).

We were impressed with the EV sales numbers we found in this March 2022 article about electric vehicle sales on energy.gov.

“Sales of new light-duty plug-in electric vehicles, including all-electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), nearly doubled from 308,000 in 2020 to 608,000 in 2021. EV sales accounted for 73% of all plug-in electric vehicle sales in 2021. EV sales grew by 85% from 2020 to 2021, while sales of PHEVs more than doubled, with an increase of 138% over the previous year. The rapid growth in plug-in electric vehicle sales from 2020 to 2021 is remarkable in the context of overall light-duty vehicle sales, which increased by only 3% during the same period.”

Then in January 2023, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) reported that although car sales in general were down in 2022 (even though we were freer than in previous years to move around), the number of electric vehicles sold increased by a “shocking 65%“!

WOWZA! That’s good news for we electricians!

And, the author of the KBB article went on to point out that an even larger increase of electric vehicle sales is anticipated as the (formerly) huge gap between the average price of a non-electric vehicle and an electric vehicle is closing significantly. It estimated the average price of a new car at approx. $50,000 and the avg. price of an EV at approx. $61,500 at the end of 2022.

This growing trend and the accompanying need for residential EV charging stations as well as commercial electric vehicle charging stations is what prompted us to come up to speed and jump into action.

Of course, our over 40 years of electrical experience reduced the learning curve!
